Christmas Travel 2018 - Day 1

This is the fourth year Sherry and I have taken the kids on a trip at Christmas time. This year we're taking a circle tour of Pennsylvania.

A circle tour of Pennsylvania. Seems a little odd, doesn't it. Last year we had our most exotic destination: Toronto. This year, though, we wanted something a bit more modest. Besides, there were some interesting attractions that just happened to be within the Keystone State. So we're staying closer to home than Canada.

Our first destination was to see the Lehigh Valley Phantoms visit the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins. Certainly a more memorable game that last year's match, though there wasn't as much of a crowd tonight. That being said, it was a heck of a game. Phantoms trailed until tying it with five minutes or so left.

I enjoy the minor league ventures with my family. Sherry seems to prefer it. Caroline, too. Sam seems at home at almost any level of professional sporting event, though I think he likes the freedom of movement he has at a minor league venue. For me I still prefer MiLB over AHL. The quality of play doesn't seem as far off in minor league baseball as it does in minor league hockey.

More details on the trip. The plan is as such . . .

see the sites in Scranton Thursday morning
meet up and stay with Sherry's uncle and aunt in State College Thursday
depart for Pittsburgh and take in sites and events Friday and Saturday
return for a family reunion Sunday (where Ravens, Eagles and Steelers fans will all be present)

More later.
