Picture Wall Update

Here it is, with seven new photographs.

It might be inadvertantly Sam-centric. The portraits of him are close-ups of his head. Caroline's pictures (I swear, they're up there) often feature her in the midst of fun stuff.

Though five of the photos were from adventures this summer, two were from quite some time ago (summer 2013, I think) by Abby Haresign, our cousin.

Basement Update

It's September 7 and the summer-time stay-at-home dad is blogging? It's not summer anymore. We're a week or so into the new school year! It's late on Labor Day! However, it still feels like summer (Take a peek at the September calendar below. With all those blissful interruptions how can it not feel like summer). I might keep up this blogging all the way to the autumnal equinox.

Faithful readers may appreciate an update on the basement's progress. The drywall is done, with the requisite taping and sanding finished. The final carpentry should commence tomorrow or Wednesday.

Now it's time to see whether or not our decision to not dig down, leaving pipes exposed to buy extra head room looks like an authentic industrial feel or laziness.

Sneaking in a last post

Is it still summer if I'm posting on this site?

I'll let some photos tell the story. Our basement remodeling project is nearing its completion. The drywall installation and taping appears done. We're now moving into final carpentry. Sherry made an appointment today for carpet measurements.

Looking down the staircase.

The new staircase

In just a few weeks, Legos will populate this space.

Closet.

Sump pump area and common wall.
I'm eager for its completion. It's beginning to feel claustrophobic up here on the main floor where much of the basement's bounty has been relocated.
